Join us for an informal and vibrant panel discussion about deejay culture in 2024 and beyond. Whether you're a seasoned deejay, a music enthusiast, or someone curious about the behind-the-scenes business challenges, this event promises to be an enlightening experience featuring deejays from St. Louis and the Midwest. Topics will include discussions of the latest gear, marketing, and branding trends, how you feel about hosts, the deejay landscape in 2024, developing the craft, the economic realities of the deejay profession, and more. If you are an open format, Hip-hop, EDM, House, Radio, Wedding, or corporate deejay, we would love to see and hear from you! Come and give your SPIN on what is happening in the deejay culture. The B.E. Initiative
Empowerment and Encouragement: Bridging the gap between talent and entrepreneurship.
B.E. Initiative is designed to help young people in the area of Fine Arts realize their full potential as artists and entrepreneurs. The program is designed to give its participants the opportunity to study and explore the richness of their inner-potential through a three step formula of EXPOSING, EXPERIENCING and EXECUTING. It is:
Intentionally focusing on the personal network & the development of the artist
Available for high school/college-aged youth and adults
The Art of Arts
From The LAB
From The Lab is a Creative opportunity for area high school musicians, deejays, producers and songwriters to create and record original music. Participants will learn recording and production techniques from national producers, artists and deejays. Learn how to market your music and network with other young artist in the St. Louis area. Record your music at a professional recording studio and receive helpful information on how to be an artistic entrepreneur.
From The Lab is a (5) five week program that meets during the fall. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. This program is free for all participants that are selected.
Superheroes of Blackness
Superheroes of Blackness is a theatrical piece written by playwright Lois Hicks with musical compositions by contributors Jason “Dirtylynt” Moore, Paige Alyssa, Anita Jackson, Ms. Kriss, Alphonso Harried and Harris. The futuristic story follows an artificial intelligence character named L Jay and her analysis on the St. Louis urban community, its various issues and the drastic consequences that are sparked in the future. The character, voiced by Jacqueline Thompson, was created by cartoonist/animator David Gordon and will feature the digital set designs of Geordy Van Es. L Jay uses an array of African American comic book characters to address issues ranging from homicide, homelessness to black empowerment. With the help of fashion designer Nyla Coleman, these heroes emerge into our world to bring hope and inspiration through the use of technology and music.
